TGIF -News of the Day

Its official – I am no longer employeed. My last check came today from my former company. Funny enough so did a packet that was supposed to be my final papers ( I am guessing) but contained documents for another person, including a page that had various benefits details and SSN#s on it. Uhmm.. ok seriously funny. Not in a HAHA kinda way but in a omg – you are kidding me right?
Take your eyes – roll them all the way into the back of your head and insert a sarcastic southern drawl here – be synical – slightly whiney – and say
“Channel Advisor is really on the ball…”
Yes.. mailed me socials of the people I used to work with. I am sure they are really going to appreciate that once I let them know.

Wheeling and dealing – I sent an email to my Wheel Foster Mom – Shes currently getting ready to ship my new found object of love off sometime soon. I just want my new aussie pal here as quickly as possible. I am so excited to sit at her bobbins and drool. This is a huge thing for me and if I didnt slober enough in my previous post about her, I cant believe I GOT A SPINNING WHEEL !!! All these years. All these years. OMF- G !!!!

New Geekdom – I was talking with the BF the other night (they are all blurring due to a horrible cold) and detailing what I need in a new pc. My old one – this one is on the downside of elderly and while still great for a home pc for pixie – not suited to what I will be needing to do soon (when) I get hired at this new company I am seeking employment with. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Its something where I would be able to work remotely for now from home. This brings us back to the BF/PC/Geek Squad… New pc for Me ! I know nothing about it – but will tell you as it rolls in.. I do know its dual core and has Vista pre-installed.

Mucus – I have been feeling super puney and ick for the most of this week. I pick up my needles more often while under my blankets on the sofa. I really do not want to do much of anything else. The AC guy came out yesterday to swap out the filter for the units in the house and actually.. once he did – I seemed to get some relief in my breathing. I am very sensitive to dust. I know this – but its amazing what one little thing can do.

Blaze La Flame – Herself. She was my partner for Debb’s Halloween Crochet Swap. She emailed yesterday to let me know that she has gathered my items and will be sending them off sometime soon. You have to check our her blog and give her a little love. She is very crafty and a totally fun read. Plus she always has fantastic Freebie Mondays ! I can not wait to see what has been posted off !

There is still time to join my team for the Lee Denim Breast Cancer awarness day.
Click the box anywhere on my site to go to my team home page.

I am determined to kill Cancer 5$ at a time !!!

Before the Fall

Little Lady

Well its official – the creepy crawlies and ghouls are starting to appear. As I cleaned my house the other day in prep for my uber organized *new life* focus, I found all the decorations.
Things that migrated from Florida but never made it up last year because I was broken. Pumpkins lights blood ghouls ghosties and the such. It was thrilling to discover box after box of orange and black deliciousness.
I stepped outside to take a break and looked to my left. In between two trees in the area that separates my neighbors house and mine was several webs. As the sunlight changed I could see them clearly and my mom pointed out there was more than one directly on the same tree and each had its own little spinner going to town.
Sure enough moving closer (which is very brave for me as most of you know I am super terrified of spiders on so many neurotic levels) I could see how very beautiful the webs and girls were going at it.
Of course this meant photo ops!
My Flickr – has some of the better pics.

TOPIC OF THE WEEK #3
Autumn has now officially begun here in the States!! What is your favorite thing about Autumn/Fall? Why?

I love the change in the weather. Its simple and its not big just yet, as it takes time to really cool down here in Georgia. Already though I can feel the humidity leaving, the wind and breezes picking up and the trees changing. Trees beckon the fall changes. At night they talk a little more and rush against the wind. There is almost a collective sigh in the woods that you can smell hear and see. I love that feeling. I can open the windows and smell the woods. I can listen at night to more critters around because its not so terribly hot for them. The anticipation of being able to make sweaters this year is kicking in for me!

O _ M _ Goddess!!!!

Today in my gloom the heavens parted and what I have wanted more than anything the last 5-10 years walked ( I should sashaaaayed) in one glorious fell swoop. Somehow I was looking for craft patterns for my halloween pal. I am still undecided which pattern I would love to send her. Patterns are so personal.. you never really know what someone would like to make for their home.. ok so BLAH back to the GLORY!!!

Oh yes.. really.

In google searching for roving I found her. Someone who no longer has time for spinning or time to do keep a wheel was tenderly letting her find another home. Ending with in hours she called to me in the most tartlet of fashion. Sweet and wild waiting to be delivered. I have yet to name her because the sheer excitement.

Being that she is an A

  • Autumn topic of the week #2

TOPIC OF THE WEEK When you knit or crochet dishcloths, washcloths or face clothes, what do you use? What size needle or hook? Wood? what type? Metal? Plastic? A specific Brand? Why do you love that needle or hook so much? Is there one you are dying to try? Is there a particular yarn you love and use all the time for clothes? What is so special about it?

No I don’t just babble these out because I want to win a little prize. I like sharing my thoughts and talking to others. If I didn’t I wouldn’t have created a blog to detail the inner workings of my life in every non private manner including finding lumps in my breast – my discourse with my mother – or the fact I am lost when it comes to love and teenagers. The two not related but you see where I am going.

     So to the topic –

    Yarn.. I use Yarn : )
When I filled out the questionnaire – I commented on how I loved softies for face and more durable rugged sport for dish. Here’s the thing.. I bought some Bernant  Twists  on sale (see posts below) and was amazed to find how much I really loved it. Not only for the way it stitches up but the look of the finished product and the feel. Its like happy petals for your dishes. I love the way this stuff feels ! One ball (skein 2.5 oz deliciousness) winds up into a 10×6 cloth easily with (SC) stitches all in a row. Basic easy right? Well the way they look are just simply yummy! I would include a picture – however you see I am torturing my secret pal and can not reveal too much as to give myself away to them. This is after SECRET : )

I am loving my G hook. Dunno why but it mates up better with the yarn than the suggested H for these and makes them tight but movable. Clean. The H was turning out loops that were messy and not aesthetically pleasing to my perfectionist eye.  I was so darn  pleased I crocheted up one whole cloth today and its BEAUTIFUL! That I cant stop yammering about Twists and G.

The G-diddy is now like my Pool Man Juan.
We are lovers in twisted G-eelight!

    Tackling Tunisian

Maybe its the out of work effect – I have a tendency to over shop.

I was in HobbyLobby looking for some sweet little goodies for my swap pals – and happened on a 50% off sale. I have posted it on CrochetVille and a few other places. I hope the word gets out as there are only a few days left. The biggest score was the 50% off needles and supplies. I found those beautiful Tunisian hooks I have been wanting for so long. I got three in the most common sizes – H I G .

These have been my favorite sizes really to work with lately. G in particular. I used to really love H and still hold him a secret lover : ) but G really floats my boat right now.

Cruising some really great sites in the constant search for my perfect spinning wheel I came across a history of the Ashford family and what they really did for not only wheels but Kit Sets in the world of retail. You can read about it in this Ashford article – scroll down to the bottom of the page for the story.

Halloween – Silly you say? Oh no.. I think its brilliant and I will be wearing it !

In fact I think everyone in my household will have to be doing this zaney mask ! If you click the picture you will be taken to Crochet Me’s blog and patter instructions.  Some great stuff on there.

I have completed 3 dishcloths as practice round for the Autumn Swap and have mastered a consistant single crochet (SC). While this may not seem huge to many – its enormous to me and my lust for understanding the dynamics of what makes a good clean stitch.

Talking to my swapping buddy in the other Swap I am doing I was expressing how confusing knitting is to me still and this little mastering moment of that crochet fundamental felt like a lifetime of validation.

On to the rest of my day!
